Thought of the Day

What a waste it is to spend time being unhappy, worrying about things you can't change, and not changing the things you can.

Buddha said, "Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment."

Life is the best gift we shall ever receive.. Make the most of it.. Strive for happiness, whatever you may get it from.. Nothing else is worth the effort.

Choices

Aspiration is good, but what you aspire to be, makes all the difference. and that is the choice you have to make. what you base that choice on is the big question. there are no real universal guidelines that can be adhered to. Going by example too is a problem, when choosing a model to follow. And then too, the big question is, why follow? Who set them as the saint?

The only real path out is to follow intuition. The real desire of our soul. For that is the only thing that we are answerable to. That is what we were born with, and that is what we will die with.

Problems arise, when we are unsure of what our soul tells us. A problem that is a consequence of ignoring the soul for too long. Just like a book, that if untouched for long gathers dust and may even damage the book, similarly our soul too requires regular listening too.

And no matter how much dust their might be, you need to go and wipe it, for it may be difficult, but it aint impossible.

Blasphemy? Maybe.

No religion that existed on earth has ever worshipped their gods with as much fervor as the egyptians. The faith the belief and the undying trust they had in their gods was both phenomenal and disdainful. However, today while knowledge of the existence of this religions exists, it finds itself no takers at all. No body worships or lays faith in them though they also do not outrightly reject or accept these practices. The point to learn from here is, that no matter what religion you might practice today, at some point of time in the future, it may too become as irrelevant and sidelined as the ancient egyptians. No message from 'GOd' would stay on, no wrath of the gods would have been unleashed. Religion is only there to comfort the human mind often, most often, at the behest of those with their eyes on political power. Kings used religion to declare themselves demigods in order to justify their command over others.

So in this light, can Jesus also be called a phoney? He did after all claim to be the messenger of god with a desire to get people to believe what he says. Irrespective of whether he wanted the riches or not, he did gain a lot of power from & a place in the history it. Could this have been his intent? After all these are but the crudest and the most basic of human needs. So what if he suffered a lot for it too, he knew what he shall get from it at the end.

But to look at it from another tangent, maybe he knew that he was no messenger of god, but he simply created it all not to derive anything from it but rather to uplift mankind and address the issues of the poor and the sufferers. In that respect, maybe he was no real god but just a highly successful and popular social activist. Your views?

Sex, Seduction and Sheila

"My name is Sheila, Sheila ki jawaani.. I am too sexy for you, main tere haath na aani... no no no NO! Not this song again. Since the day it released a fortnight back, all I have heard is this one song. If by gods grace its not on some radio or TV channel, then it'll definitely be on the lips of some passerby. Forget audio-visual, this song hasn't even spared the print media, with daily analysis and public reviews about the song. And don't even get me started on the online discussion forums and social networking websites, which seems to have found a new obsession of coming up with daily comparisons between this and its nearest competitor - 'The Badnaam Munni'. So much so, that even the Music channels now play both the songs in quick succession, for what I believe is to aid comparisons.

All this obsession takes me back a couple of years to the 'Kata laga' days when one tattooed girl shook the country with her seductive and audaciously bold moves when she entered the pub with a stamp on her upper chest and bared her navel with such ooze that put the whole nation on fire. As for the first time in many many years had such a daring, provocative, 'female led' video been produced. Thus giving a rebirth to the Indian chapter of Item numbers (which in its classic meaning implies highly sexualized songs with racy imagery and suggestive lyrics). But while there had been many item songs with an alluring female lead before, it was for the first time, that one had been so 'bare'fully forthcoming. Piya Tu Ab To Aaja(1971), Jawani Jaaneman(1982), Choli Ke Peeche(1993) had also been item numbers garnering huge audiences; but none of these did it with the amount of sizzle, seduction and boldness as portrayed in the Kata Laga Number or the ones after that. Chadti Jawaani, Kabhi aar kabhi paar, Pardesiya (that shot Rakhi Sawant to fame) flooded the Indian television with sexually enticing-bordering on vulgarity styled Music Videos. And if at all the Indian audience was still reclusive to the notion of semi-naked women dancing on their TV sets,  the onset of popular figures such as Bipasha in Beedi Jalai Le and Aishwarya in Kajra Re, firmly eradicated from the Indian minds any doubts about the inappropriateness of such songs. Which is why, today rather than hiding embarrassed faces from one's elders, the gen-Y finds themselves singing along such songs, when not dancing to them. Which brings me to the crux of my topic. Is this change in the current generation a sign of sexual freedom or a sign of forgotten values? It is a topic that can be well debated.

With the advent of songs such as Sheela ki jaawani and Munni badnaam hui, I feel that India is finally coming to accept that man 'is' a sexual creature, and that young, sexually potent females do not need to be shamefully hidden behind locked doors. That she too is free to exhibit her freedom; and that she's no more afraid of not just acknowledging her desires but also of voicing them. She is now not only free to choose but also, holding the power to choose. With this I feel it would be safe to say that the Indian women have finally come of age (thankfully only metaphorically). And while all this may be a good thing, as is to every debate there also happens to be a downside of the same.

I well remember what got me started thinking about this issue. It was when a friend of mine with such enthusiasm narrated to me a dance event he had just attended. At the event, a choreography team from some college had danced to the tune of Munni Badnaam hui, and his reaction to the same was to put it subtly, of complete and utter delight. His eyes full of wonderment, his smile of lustful amaze, he narrated to me how the crowd went wild and I mean WILD when the speakers blared this song. To the normal eye, this would seem nothing out of place, after all isn't this the whole purpose of dance performances, to make the crowd go wild, but that in itself is another issue. Why would one ever want to make the crowd go wild; knowing fully well that this wildness is full of lust and this lust the creator of an evil mind and the evil mind the initiator of evil acts. Isn't this why, it is advocated in our value system not to propagate such actions. Don't get me wrong, when I say this, I do not mean to imply that all evil acts are therefore the consequences of female action, neither do I suggest that the female restrict their right to self-expression. Heck no! I completely believe that one is responsible for one's actions, irrespective of the situation. If the Y-chromosomed can not practice self control then it does not imply that the female are at fault. However, if its not ignorance then it's sheer stupidity to expect no reaction to a provocation. You can not expect the tiger not to eat if the deer comes to sleep in his kitchen. Point being, the men need to learn self-control while the women need to learn self-protection. Clearly provocation is not an example of self-protection.

The debate is endless, the counter-points many. I myself subscribe to none, and only wonder with complete unbiased inquisitiveness that how, in a country where women are still expected to hide behind a veil and are ordained to cover their hair with cloth before elders (an act which unbeknown to most, is conducted as hair was considered as a sexually attractive bodily object by our forefathers), who would have thought that women shall once roam around gushing her own sex appeal.

One Liners

Whatever you do, don't be the biggest, Be the Best

The mightiest have the farthest to fall

This world is like a sieve, where god has put in all the souls to put to test. And now it is upto us to fight the evils of this world represented by the sieve and filter on to Heaven

God is perfect. So if you want to reach god, reach for perfection.

Compromise due to love, and love due to compromise are two very different things

First learn to say ' I ' before you say "I love you"

A person cries at someone's death, not out of pity for the dead person, but out of pity for himself.

There is no better test in this world, than the test of time.

A dish amazingly garnished and decorated may sell once but unless the taste and nourishment equals the decoration it won't sell again. Similarly, a person might be extremely beautiful & attractive but unless his/her nature and character are as pure and worthy as the outer appearance, He/She is worthless.

Modern Hindu Conservatism

IN a country following a religion that preaches love, respect, tolerance, and submission to truth and one’s inner self, it is appalling to witness such intolerance of one person wishes and freedom of love for another. In the wake of the recent wave of honor killings that the North India seems to be witnessing in the name of self-respect, religious and social beliefs, one fails to understand on which adaptation of the Hindu religion have these murderous people willingly and self consciously slaughtered their very own brothers, sisters, children and grand children. In the name of sacrifice to earn the respect of the society and the wishes of ancient Hindu rituals not to allow inter-caste marriage, has the modern hindu beliefs undergone a paradigm shift from the ancient and the extremely admired form of Hindu religion. The temples of Khajurao, the teachings of Kama Sutra both an intricate aspect of ancient hindusim are bold enough to raise the brows of the today’s Westerners. Even closer home, the daily worship of the very spiritual and religiously supreme form of Hindu god, the phalanx of the Great Shiva, is considered one of the most auspicious and most commonly followed form of worship of the god. So much so that it is considered imperative for all unmarried Indian women to pour milk and seek blessing from the Shiva phalanx every day in order to find a suitable husband. Priests covered only in loincloth worship in many such temples all over the country blessing men and women from all walks of life. Why then should we show such narrow mindedness and ignorance when faced with true love blossoming between two young beings?! Why can we not disregard their caste status and instead except them for who they are and what they share amongst each other. Why should an invisible tag of belonging to a small sect of society created several hundred years ago, to group people by their occupation become an obstacle in the current modern  society when they hold no relation to that section or to the occupation of that community save for the tag that is reflected in their family name. Sociologists claim that this is done to ensure the continuity of their family name and community. But how fair is it to kill their own kin also a member of the society they claim to protect?
Hinduism has always preached love, and not just love for thy neighbour, but also love for one’s life partner. Waging epic wars to protect the love and respect between husbands and wives. Their stories have been passed on day after day to promote the existence and to emphasise the need for true love. Krisna, one of the greatest gods of Hindu mythology, was always known to be, to put it simply, a Casanova, running after gopiyas of all ages and of all castes, this despite being in love with the one woman  of his desire, whom he never actually married, but is still always associated with. And despite having such a colourful history, hindu’s today are still intolerant of most of the intimacies that take place between the two sexual beings that existed and was accepted earlier (example. Prostitution, once a much respected profession now outlawed). It is as if the hindu thought process having reached its zenith in ancient times has since then became more conservative and backward than ever before.

Shame on us

I'd like to ask you a question, Are you satisfied with the government's performance today (the outgoing government, not the newly elected government)? If Yes, leave me your number I'd like a dose of your positive spirit too, If No then tell me what are YOU doing to change it! If you are NOT satisfied with something, then why do you accept it. Why do you ignore it, WHY don't you CHANGE IT!!! W H Y ?

I don't need to take your permission for this; I can say this clearly and confidently that Indian politics today - sucks! BIG TIME! NO Doubts there. So my next question is, what do we do about it. This problem has been lying around with us for such a long time that it has become a part of the system, Hell it has become the system itself! So my next Question is, what practical, feasible, and permanent solution do we have to tackle this impossible-like problem?

I believe that educating the politician is both crucial and necessary today. A certain educational program should become a pre-requisite to contest the elections. A special course\degree should be made mandatory for all aspiring politicians for which a rigid entrance test should be taken, and only those who pass their final examinations with good scores should be allowed to contest the elections. I say this with many reasons. One, this would entail the public with a natural and trustworthy system for rating the politicians. Two, because it is senseless and idiotic to allow an illiterate, uneducated, and untested person to run and command a whole nation of learned men.

Think of it this way, while an uneducated \ unqualified person is not considered worthy of an ordinary 9-to-5 job, he is given the privilege to govern the brightest and the most cultivated minds of the country !If knowledge is power then how and why are the politicians given such supreme power when they don't have an iota of knowledge or intellect?

A Politician holds the highest and the strongest position in the world. He controls the whole society, his thoughts and philosophies are legally enforced upon millions, they have the power to influence a billion lives; they have the power and the responsibility to better a billion lives so how and why should we leave such an important position of the society for the unchecked and the unknown? When we choose to empower the most knowledgeable and the educated to run the companies of our country then why do we employ such unsuccessful and unpolished people to run our government?! As somebody has rightly said, "If we won't entrust our children to the politicians then how can we entrust them with our country?"!!!!

It is time that we, the educated drop down and participate in national politics and change the perception of politics itself. It is time that we assume responsibility that the development and growth of us individuals and eventually our country rests with us, and by not participating in it and by calling it names, we are merely running away from our responsibilities.

Politics is not bad, it has only assumed a bad reputation and it is up to us to change that!

If we think that the current horde of politicians are inefficient and corrupt then we need to step down and prove that we are better than them by doing their work better than them or else we should accept that we are worse than them because despite realizing their ineffectiveness, we fail to do any better than them and rather we continue to allow them to be re-elected to power and at times even help them get re-elected for our own greedy needs! And then we go on singing to the world that these politicians are good for nothing, they are the reason that the country is in shambles. Helloo, excuse me who do you think has elected these politicians? YOU YOURSELF so why throw mud at them when you yourself are engulfed in dirt, at least they are decent enough to do misdeeds in the open and then accept them openly, but we don’t even have the courage to accept it! And to top it all, we call ourselves a Democracy, the world’s largest Democracy. Shame on us!

More Suggestions in the same regard are on their way. Meanwhile you may give suggestions about how I can better my article or my thought process. Thanks!

Is Physical Outburst the only Option?

I often wonder why is it that two men fight (physically)? What is it that prompts them to do so? Is it there ego, their pride, which I feel is the reason to most of the problems of this world. Or do these fights really hold some reason and purpose? If so then what is it? Today, it is so common to witness a fight that when one hears of it, it fails to leave any imprint on the person. It has become such a common place activity. And this is true for females too. Infact it has become so common to hear girls talk and ask about fights that it made me wonder, "Has it become the norm now?"

Personally I am still not able to get used to the notion of girls participating and rejoicing in physical outcries. I still somehow envision the girls in a more dignified and emotionally stable manner.
I in spite of being a male would hardly be seen fighting anyone physically. Now don't start saying that that's because you don't hold the ability to fight, it might be so but the reason I hold in mind is that I don't see any reason to do so. I don't see any worthwhile cause to fight. I feel that real fights are those which are fought with yourself. I always give them preference. For I see a reason in them. Now by this I don't mean hitting myself or anything physical here. I mean the fights we hold inside ourselves to choose between the right and the wrong. The fights which decide which way should we go, should we follow our principles or should we take the easy way? These are the fights of substance. They have a purpose and a worthy cause behind them. And thus I feel that these fights are worth fighting. Also I believe that these fights are more difficult than the physical ones. Much more difficult. You need to have real courage, true courage to fight these fights let alone win them. For here your muscles would be of no help to you. Here you'll need real willpower, which unlike muscles cannot be built in a couple of days in the GYM. It takes years of hard work to build a strong willpower, and which is also something most of us lack.

FeaR of ""FEAR""

Frankly I don’t know what to write. I have opened this today to write something about my feelings, my thoughts. The things I come up with when am thinking the problems that I think this world is facing and the problems to it. This is why I have begun writing this thing today so that through this article I would be able to convey my feelings and thoughts to the outside world, and so that frankly well I had be able to inspire someone anyone to leave the made-up non-existent untrue world they are living in and so that they too would come and join me to look for the real world. I know that this sounds like I am bragging, as if I know every thing in this world, like I know what’s true and what's not after all in your eyes am just a kid. I child aged 15 (my age when I wrote this), who has no experience at all of whatsoever. But tell me something did Jules Verne ever step out of his country? If he didn’t then how the hell was he able to travel the whole world? Give such accurate details of all the places he visited in his book? How was he able to tell so precisely about the future inventions of this world? How was Nostradamus, who lived in the 16th century, who had never in his life seen skyscrapers or planes still be able to predict the 9/11 crash.? How is any “genuine” astrologer able to predict the future for you? And don’t say now that no actual astrologer exists for if it was so then the word astrologer wont be in existence and so many people would not be believing in it today. They must have witnessed one true prediction or at least have had heard about such. And now going by the numbers you can imagine how many honest predictions however small this world must have witnessed. So how was all this possible? How did he do it? If you say that he had some special powers in himself then I would say that you too live in the world of ignorance. For let me give you a hard truth here: No such thing as a special power exists in humans. The only power that exists in these fellows is the power of truth. The power of curiosity; the power to question everything and think over it with reasoning and logic; and the power to be honest about it. It is with these powers that he is able to figure the truth out. And herein lies a question “where do these powers come from? IT COMES FROM BENEATH US. IT COMES FROM INSIDE US. EVERY THING THAT WE SE IN THIS WORLD WE HEAR IN THIS WORLD WE LEARN IN THIS WORLD HAS BEEN WITH US FROM THE DAY OUR SOUL DECIDED TO TAKE SHELTER IN THE MOTHER’S WOMB. WE HAVE NEITHER EVER LEARNED ANYTHING IN THIS WORLD NOR SEEN ANYTHING NEW EVER, IT HAS AL BEEN IN US SINCE THE BIRTH OF OUR SOUL, BUT WE JUST FORGET IT WHEN WE UTTER OUR FIRST WORD. AND REMEMBER IT WHEN WE SEE IT AGAIN, WHEN WE FEEL IT AGAIN. NOTHING IS NEW NOTHING IS OLD. NOTHING IS EVER LEARNT NOTHING IS EVER DESTROYED. IT IS MERELY FORGOTTEN AND THEN REMEMBERED AGAIN. WE HUMANS OUR MADE OF NOTHING BUT FEAR, FEAR AND FEAR ALONE. EVERY ACTION WE TAKE HAS A REASON OF FEAR BEHIND IT.
Someone once said “there is nothing to fear but fear itself”
AND ‘IF’ YOU HAVE BEEN ABLE TO UNDERSTAND WHAT I HAVE WRITTEN IN THE ABOVE LINES YOU WOULD UNDERSTAND HOW TRUE THIS STANDS. FEAR IS THE BIGGEST DISEASE MANKIND FACES TODAY, AND IT IS CONTAGIOUS TOO. BUT THE BEST PART IS THAT THE CURE TO IT LIES WITH NO DOCTOR OR AT ANY CHEMIST SHOP IT RESTS WITH THE VICTIM HIMSELF... FOR NO ONE CAN CURE HIM OF THIS DISEASE SAVE FOR HIM ALONE. SADLY HE IS NOT AWARE OF THIS. NO LET ME CORRECT THAT, HE IS AWARE OF IT BUT HE IGNORES IT FOR HE IS NOT EVEN READY TO ADMIT THAT THIS PROBLEM EXISTS IN HIM IT IS SOOO DEADLY. AND THE CURE TO IT MAY BE LYING WITH HIM BUT HE ALONE CAN PUT THAT MEDICINE TO USE AND TO PUT THAT MEDICINE ON HE HAS TO WALK A VERY STRANGE PATH. STRANGE BECAUSE NEITHER DOES THIS PATH HOLD ANY HORNS NOR ANY TRAPS. IT HAS TO BE THE SMOOTHEST PATH OF THIS UNIVERSE AND A PATH WHOSE EXISTENCE IS KNOWN BY ALL, BUT THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT THE PATH TO THIS PATH IS UNKNOWN AND THE MOST DIFFICULT AND THORNY AND STEEP AND ANYTHING ELSE DIFFICULT EVER SEEN IN THIS WORLD AND MORE. THIS PATH IS THE PATH OF TRUTH. AND IT HAS TO BE THE MOST PLEASURABLE PATH IN THIS UNIVERSE AND THE ONLY PATH WHICH ACTUALLY LEADS TO A DESTINATION.
Someone once said that “life is a journey not a destination.”
AND THIS IS VERY TRUE. BUT IF THIS JOURNEY OF LIFE IS SPENT ON THE PATH OF TRUTH THEN THE DESTINATION OF PURITY FOR WHICH WE ALL STRIVE FOR WHICH WE HAVE ALL TOOK BIRTH AND TOWARDS WHICH WE ARE TODAY WORKING, CONSCIOUSLY OR UNCONSCIOUSLY. THEN WILL WE BE ABLE TO REACH OUR FINAL DESTINATION AND BRING OUR TIRING SOULS TO REST. THIS IS WHAT WE HAVE ALL “FORGOTTEN” AND THAT IS WHAT I THROUGH THIS ARTICLE WOULD LIKE TO REMIND YOU ABOUT. TO REMIND YOU THAT YOUR MAIN GOAL IN THIS WORLD IN NOT BE RICH, TO BE FAMOUS, TO BE KNOWN OR TO LIVE A COMFORTABLE LIFE. YOUR MAIN AIM SHOULD NOT BE TO ACHIEVE SUCCESS IN LIFE BUT TO ACHIEVE SUCCESS IN YOUR WALK TOWARDS THE ULTIMATE TRUTH. AND THE EASIEST WAY TO START YOUR WALK ON THIS PATH IS BY DOING THE RIGHT THING ALWAYS. NO MATTER THE CONSEQUENCE YOU SHOULD DO THE RIGHT THING. BUT HERE IS ANOTHER PROBLEM. WHAT IS THE RIGHT THING? E.g. a Muslim would say that killing a Hindu is the right thing. A Hindu would say just the opposite so what is the right thing then? The right thing would be to go against the wrong and anything the destroys the truth involves a lie, and most importantly creates an obstruction on our path towards the truth is wrong and should always be fought

I had earlier asked you a question that why is it that Jules Verne or Nostradamus or the likes able to see the future or see the unseen while the others cannot.
The answer to this is that these people were free men. They were men who did not think of the consequences, did not care about the world or there family all they knew was the truth. They were honest men… honest to themselves. And most importantly they were men who held a great imagination. An imagination with which they were able to see beyond the obvious… For as I said that everything this world has to offer us lies in our minds and these men with the help of their imagination were able to explore that side of their minds. They were able to open that part of themselves which the world fears, and thus have named as childish… but which is the most important part of life... they were able to imagine things, were able to open themselves and accept the truth and fight their fears. And thus let’s say god himself/herself came down on earth to provide them with this knowledge.
Their imagination with the help of their analytical, observatory and reasoning skills showed them this world. And all this could have been possible only because they were men who did not fear “fear” but rather they fought fear. This is the secret of their success. And well honestly of mine too. To some extent for when I am able to do all of the above mentioned things then I too am bestowed with such knowledge of the future and the past and the present.

What I said above might have sounded very stupid, idiotic and childish to you but then remember that it was for these very reasons that you yourself were unable to come up with these simple truth of life and so hasn’t anyone else that I know of.

Myself

I have to live with myself and so I want to be fit for myself to know.
I want to be able as days go by to look myself in the eye.
I don’t want stand with the setting sun and think of the things I have or have not done.
I want to go out with my head erect.
I want to be able to deserve each man’s respect I want to be able to like myself.
I don’t want to look at myself and say that I am a bluster, a bluff and an empty show.
